Love mostly guitar driven sounds of the 60’s & 70’s like garage rock, power pop, punk, surf etc and the bands that are carrying the mantle to this day.
If you like Matthew Sweet, The Posies and Teenage Fanclub this Canadian power pop band has it all; harmonies, loud guitars, multiple singers and all the hooks. Fantastic album
Toronto’s world class backing band makes amazing music in their own right; a nice mix of Americana, garage and surf. Sadly Dallas Good (son of Canadian royalty - The Good Brothers) passed away in 2022 but are carried on by brother Travis and new singer Rick White.
Read somewhere this album was called Doom Wop Surf haha - it’s more smooth surf and also fantastic. Simple songs about burger joints and hair salons! Three sisters from Saskatoon. Who knew a country not known for surfing had so many amazing surf bands?
Raw and unfettered, this Canadian Garage Rock band had the energy and the swagger and offered it up with their lofi and gritty production. Lead singer André Ethier’s signature growl makes it all worthwhile
Vancouver was a hotbed of power pop bands in the early 80’s and Pointed Sticks (who took their name from a Monty Python sketch) are no slouches. Tight, fast and chock full of hooks
