Billy Joel

Billy Joel for the soul! Storytelling peak!

Some musical/arrangement and production elements are severely dated. But Joel is doing some of his most wide-ranging vocal work and his deepest lyrical work. It’s complicated, frustrating sometimes. However, it may very well be the clearest reflection of the artist himself that he’s ever allowed his audience.

Best ever

I dont like schmalz. So overrated.

This album gives me life

My parents loved Billy Joel when I was a kid. Hasn’t aged well for me - feel like the more I learned about him over the years the harder his music was to like.

A musically refreshing journey from start to finish - he defined a one-of-one sound that characterizes a time and place distinctly. Many of these hits I grew up knowing, so it was a great surprise to hear some of them within this tracklist.
