8.58.5/10 — Another serious contender for my 2026 Album of the Year, and one I keep finding myself coming back to. Mutiny in Heaven is another one of those albums that completely caught me by surprise. Johnny Blue Skies has created a record that feels incredibly lived-in and authentic, blending country, rock, and Americana into something that feels both familiar and completely its own. What I love most about this album is how much replay value it has. I’ve listened to it quite a few times now, and instead of getting tired of it, I keep finding myself going back to it. There’s something about the songwriting, the musicianship, and the overall feel of the record that makes it easy to put on from beginning to end. It also feels like an album that rewards repeat listens. Songs that might not immediately stand out start to grow on you, and the more familiar I become with the record, the more I appreciate the little details and the way everything fits together. For me, that’s one of the biggest signs of a great album. It’s not just about how much you enjoy it the first time you hear it — it’s whether you still want to put it on weeks or months later. Mutiny in Heaven has definitely passed that test for me. At this point, it’s firmly in the conversation for my favorite albums of 2026. There are still plenty of albums left to hear this year, but this is one I already know I’ll be coming back to. 8.5/10 — another 2026 Album of the Year contender and a record that continues to get better the more I listen to it.
