Al Nicol

The songs feel personal without trying too hard to be emotional. Hints of classic folk and soft rock. The collaborators on Only Hoping are a big part of what makes this record feel so special: Hiss Golden Messenger, a bunch of the members of Bonny Light Horseman (Josh, JT, Cam), and Erin Rae. In the best way possible reminds me of Neil Young, Al Nicol is also Canadian too so there is something there perhaps... like Neil Young’s Harvest simple direct language, sweet melodies, and the feeling of musicians playing live in a room.
